The Bistrology Breakfast Awards: What 1,175 Google Reviewers Voted For
We didn't choose the winners. Our guests did, one Google review at a time.
By September 2026 Bistrology had 1,175 Google reviews and an average of 4.9 stars. Google groups the most frequent topics in them, so we started there. Then we read the 400 most recent reviews ourselves (almost all from February to September 2026), 307 of which had written comments, and counted what people actually praise.
Short answer: Guests at Bistrology mention the kind, friendly staff more than anything else, in 132 of the 307 recent written reviews. The most-mentioned dishes are goulash (50 reviews), omelettes (46) and croissants (46), according to Google's own review topics.

Google topic "kind staff": 56 reviews. In our recent sample: 132 of 307 written reviews (43%) praise the staff as kind, friendly or attentive.
No dish comes close. Guests write about the service before the food, and often instead of it:

The bread cup is part of the meal, so tear into it. If you prefer a bowl, the goulash also comes in a pot, and there is beef stew with dumplings for the full Hungarian lunch.

The croissant turns up in reviews on its own (with butter and jam), and as the base for bigger things: ham and cheese, baked brie, or scrambled eggs with forest mushrooms and truffle.

Two guests reached for the same superlative:

🍔 The Dream Sequence Award: the smashed bagel burger

A breakfast burger in a bagel sounds like a hangover idea. Our reviewers disagree:
"The breakfast bagel Smash burger is something you dream about."
Handy to know if last night ended at Szimpla Kert, two minutes' walk from our door.
🔁 The "Same Time Tomorrow?" Club
Fifteen of the recent reviews mention coming back, and a few guests came every single day of their stay:
"I stayed close by Bistrology Budapest and came here for brunch every day. [...] I ate an omelette every day but also tried the Hungarian goulash and beetroot hummus."
District VII is full of Airbnbs and short-let apartments, and most of them come without breakfast. If you are staying around Dohány, Kazinczy or Király utca, we open every day at 8:00.

We fixed nothing in that quote. We are just glad the robots have taste.

It's true: Bistrology is small, and outside there are only a few folding chairs on the pavement. At busy times you may wait a few minutes for a table. Our prices are on the menu page before you arrive.
